Welcome to the 2nd edition (online) of the Microsoft Abbreviation Dictionary, where you can search for abbreviations, acronyms and terminology regularly used in meetings and conversations within the Microsoft ecosystem (Microsoft and its channel partners). It includes commonly used technical, business and email terms, and is updated every six months.
Where did it start?
We have compiled this dictionary to assist people in understanding 'Microspeak'. It is something we would have dearly loved to have had when we began our journey into the often complex yet exciting world of Microsoft - unfortunately for us, it didn't exist - so we wrote it.
The dictionary began its life in 1998 as a hand-written list of terms picked up from meetings, conferences, phone calls, emails newsletters, events and training courses. This invaluable list, originally in the back of a notepad, was taken from meeting to meeting by Julie Simpson, founder of ResourceiT. When it reached 27 pages it was time to share...
How do I use MAD?
Simply register and away you go. You can search for specific terms or scan through the whole list. There's even an option to submit anything you don't find. We ask you to register so that we can email you to let you know when an updated version is available
